We apologise to all parents and students for cancelling the school photographs today.
We know that it was very late notice but we were only notified this morning that the photographer was unwell. We were advised that we could have the photos taken over two days, including today, but we felt it was less disruptive to our school community to have all photos taken on one day. We have therefore rescheduled the school photo day for Tuesday 3rd May.
If your child has already returned their photo envelope to school today it has been collected and will be held at the school until the new photo day.
Online ordering and will be open until midnight Monday 2nd May.
Photo envelopes can be returned as usual on the photo day and handed to the photographer.
Don't forget to bring in clothes your child has grown out of tomorrow! Casual or uniform. Drop off at office any time during the day. Tickets for 'swappers' will be given out at 2:30pm, then enjoy shopping around for items for your child
If you would like to help making teaching aids, listen to children read or help in classrooms please come along Thursday afternoons at the Hub upstairs. We have lots of opportunities where parents and community volunteers can assist.
Our teachers know that all students learn at their own pace and carefully plan for and monitor each students progress. This is achieved by setting individualised goals for students who need extra support, using ILPs. All ILPs will be sent home on 26th February and will contain specific learning goals and the strategies to best suit your child’s learning needs. We have an extensive Student Support Timetable offering a variety of small group learning opportunities and you will be informed via the ILP, if your child is included in any of these support programs. If you receive an ILP, please read it, sign one copy and then send it back to school. Once your child has reached their learning goal, the completed goal will be included in the next ILP so you can track your child’s progress and celebrate their successes with them.
If you have questions about your child’s ILP, you are more than welcome to make a time with the classroom teacher to discuss further.
We are currently planning for all ILPs to be available electronically via our Parent Portal, so keep an eye out for further details to come shortly!
As you may be aware WPPS has an attendance mascot to remind students of the importance of regular student attendance. In 2015 Attendance Sandy was awarded to the classroom with the highest rate of attendance each week. She would visit with the students in their classroom for the week and be involved in learning activities or even go on student excursions/camps. Attendance Sandy also reminds us of the importance of wearing full school uniform and a Sun Smart hat.
In 2016 we need to select a new attendance mascot to carry on the work done by Sandy in 2015. We have created a short survey to help decide on the features of our new mascot. Please help us make the decision by completing the survey.
